Fish, eh? What a bunch of carp. That said, reeling in some of Red Dead Redemption 2’s Legendary Fish has a certain allure, as anyone who’s spent a few hours on the virtual riverbank will tell you. There are 14 total Legendary Fish out there in the wild, and if you’re looking to get the angle on their location then you’ve come to the right plaice. Read on to learn where to find all 14 Legendary Fish locations in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Where to find all Legendary Fish in RDR2

Before you can dive in to the Legendary Fish hunt, you’ll first want to make sure you know how to fish in Red Dead Redemption 2. With that knowledge, you then need to splash out on some Special Lures. Legendary Fish can only be caught with certain lures that depend on the region you’re fishing. These are the Special River Lure, Special Lake Lure, and Special Swamp Lure. Even if you perch on the riverbank for hours, without the right lure you won’t see a sole.

All the Special Lures can be bought from the shop in New Hanover (look for Lake Lagras in the Bayou Nwa region) for $20, so stock up. Despite their very specific names, you can actually use any of the Special Lures in any of the correct locations to catch the Legendary Fish, but the appropriate Lure will increase your odds notably. With a pack full of lures you’re now ready, so head to any of the locations below to get started.

Legendary Bluegill

Lure: Special Lake Lure

Location: Flat Iron Lake, eastern side. Head west from Rhodes and fish between the shore and islands.

Legendary Bullhead Catfish

Location: Sisika Penitentiary Island, west inlet. The island is located on the eastern edge of the map.

Legendary Chain Pickerel

Location: Dakota River (The Heartlands). Head northwest of Flatneck Station and fish at the bottom end of the river bend.

Location: San Luis River (New Austin). Travel southeast from Armadillo and fish on the corner closest to Lake Don Julio.

Location: Stillwater Creek - Lower Montana River inlet (eastern New Austin). Look in the eastern end of New Austin, west of Thieves Landing to spot the small, named inlet. Fish in the round lake at the base of it.

Legendary Rock Bass

Lure: Special Lake Lure

Location: Aurora Basin - Lower Montana River (western West Elizabeth). Follow the lower Montana River on its curve to the north to find the Aurora Basin.

Legendary Smallmouth Bass

Location: Owanjila Lake (West Elizabeth). The lake is just to the east of Strawberry, north of the Upper Montana River.

Legendary Sockeye Salmon

Location: Lake Isabella (Ambarino). The lake is west of Barrow Lagoon and northwest of Mount Hagen. Fish on the southern end of the lake, below the point at which Beartooth Beck connects.

Lure: Special River Lure

Location: Northeast Kamassa River. You’ll need to travel to the far edge of the game map, fishing where the Kamassa River passes over the northeast border of the map above Annesburg. Follow the river past Brandywine drop to the wider edge.

Legendary Catfish

Requirements: Catch all 13 prior Legendary Fish.

Lure: N/A

Location: Rio Bravo.

Once you’ve bagged all the other Legendary fish and sent them off, you’ll receive an invite from Jeremy requesting your presence at his fishing hut. Travel down to Rio Bravo and you’ll be given the chance to go out and fish for the Legendary Catfish and complete the full set.
